We went over rebuttals in class and how a rebuttal should be in three parts

• counter (1 sentence)
• counter (1 sentence)
• claim (multiple sentences, needs to be longer because you want to spend more time on your point to get it across.)

We go over word choices and the proper transition frases.

Then we look at the example she gave us yesterday and how rebuttal should be and how to use evidence to back up your claim.

Next, we go over the counterclaim and highlight where it is in the summary response

Talk about how the counterclaim could be condensed and then that it is repetitive and how as a writer you should make your writing flow.

Never use the words: I, you, me, my, our, we, us, your, things, stuff, is verb

Today in class we proposed any questions we had about summary responses. We read sample Othello summary responses. With these samples, we highlighted the important components such as topic sentences, rebuttals, claims and more. Our homework is to finish the summary responses for Othello Act 4, finish our SAT Lesson 5 exercises and grab a copy of A Long Way Gone.

Today in class we watched more of Act 4, and took a group quiz on act 4. We also wrote quotes on Act 4 that related to each of the words on the posters around the room.

September 24, 2015 Scribe

Today in class we met in the forum to discuss dour high school careers with the guidance councilors. They covered many different aspects of our high school life. We learned how to average our GPA and how many credits we need in each school category. We learned about different aspects colleges require for students wanting to attend a certain college. We then asked any questions we had that regarded anything with graduating and coarse credits. All of the information we learned today can be found on the Arapahoe web page.

Scribe September 23, 2015

Today in class, we did our wonderful Othello performances. First we met with our groups to gather all our materials and set up.  Then, we performed and turned in the rubric, questions, and script.  We then watched Act 3.

Our homework

1. All redos and incompletes are due in class on Friday
2. SAT exercises due on Friday
