  1. @Josie- Praise is definitely necessary for someone to be motivated. This doesn't mean that praise is what will help them greatly advance, but it can make their mindset more open to drive themselves to advance. If you don't praise someone, it definitely alters their self motivation.

  2. @Colin- A child reflects their parent's mindset by just seeing their everyday actions and lessons. Parents raise their children to be someone they can be proud of, but the kids want to be as "heroic" as they see their parents. So, a kid would learn from a parent's actions in order to develop a similar mindset.

  3. @Maggie- You should never even let a coach force you into a negative mindset. If you believe that they can impact you that much, you are mentally developing your own fixed mindset. Sports usually help you grow as a person, especially with tough circumstances (such as a negative coach).

  4. @Josie- I think that many people respond better to self motivation because many things that require motivation are all tests of mentality and grit. Gaining enough self motivation makes you need to succeed rather than want to succeed. Also, when other people motivate you, its up to your own mentality to use their motivation.

  5. @Class- Do you think it is better to be born with a growth mindset, or learn to grow into a growth mindset from a fixed mindset?

  6. @Schmidt- I think that any kind of abuse to a kid will eventually make them stronger because they have already experienced something horrible, knowing that things can only get better. In the short term though, this can create a very fixed mindset for the child because they don't know that there is anything better to experience.

  7. @Zach- The adults in my life have always fostered a growth mindset for me. They show me the great potential in the world, and strive the help me achieve any kind of success that I believe in.
