The old man is already dying, so why would it matter if he got in trouble? He would already be dead by then, right?

I think the boys are fighting more because they are scared. They have seen what the rebels do to people, and they don't want that to happen to them. Then, as they grow up with all the violence and bloodlust, they start to think its right and they enjoy it as they grow older.

The boys feeling like they are slowely dying could harden them. They are so miserable that they have to push away their emotions. After a while of doing this, it could cause them to not be able to feel at all.

I think that the disstrust will only get worse. As more people dye, everyone will get more scared and not want anything to happen to them and their families. This mis trust will lead to violence right when the boys get close to towns. They will probubly get attacked and not allowed into town, and even tried to be killed.

I think that the moon is a symbol of the boy's childhood. When Ishmael looked at the moon, he was reminded of when he stared at it when he was little. Looking at the same moon, the boys feel like their childhood is not compleatly gone.

  7. When the boys entered villages, they were treated badly and threatened with death. Did the war make people crueler, or were the villagers always capable of treating boys in that way?

I think that girls would be treated differently. The rebels are made mostly of boys, so when someone sees a boy they are immediately scared. They don't think about the fact that they don't have guns. If they were girls, however. they would hesitate on thinking they were rebels. That hesitation would allow them time to think about how they couldn't be rebels, because they didn't have guns.

In America, we are generaly accustomed to eat untill we are full, and they eat untill they are just satisfied. They do not eat as heavy food as us, either, so they would not mind eating only fruit as much as we would.

I don't think that Ishmael survived because of his will to live. It seemed to me that Ismael did not want to live anymore, because of what he had lived through. Do you think that Ishmael could have lived because of his fear of being found? Could that have driven him forward, so that he wouldn't be caught by the rebels?
